Evernote Reminders

"It is pretty close to perfect."  That is the answer I would give you in response to the question "how is the new Evernote Reminders feature?"

You have a note within a notebook and there is something you need to do.  Perhaps you have a meeting at 10am Monday or additional research that needs to be done.  Click on Reminder's alarm clock.  Instantly, the note becomes pinned to the top of the notebook.  Click on the alarm clock again and you can set a date and a time when you need to do something.  If you happen to have an excessive number of irons in the fire, add some parentheses to the note's title and language like "confirm meeting dates with John Smith and Jane Brown" and add June 1st at 830 am to the Reminder.  You will get a pop-up and an email at the appointed date and time.  Go to Evernote, click on the reminder and the note opens giving you what you need to accomplish the task and the effortless ability to record what you have done and with whom.  Simple.  Elegant.

Remember the Milk (RTM), one of my favorite reminder web apps, gives you the ability to paste the link to the note on its reminder and to have the RTM reminders show up on your calendar.  While that is nice, I am much more likely to look at the "All Notes" list on Evernote these days than my calendar.  I say this in the same voice that says that I am more likely to read a Facebook message than an email.  I call it my "reality" voice.

The Reminders feature is (initially) available on the web, the Mac app, and the iOS apps.  I find it "awesome" (to use the vernacular) and although the Windows and (likely) Android versions will come soon, along with the inevitable way of connecting Reminders to iCal and Outlook, I think it is pretty Booking awesome the way it is.

Way to answer our requests, Evernote!  Way to be awesome!
